Before you arrive
Good to know
The most important questions about our day — answered short and sweet.
Should we bring our kids?
Absolutely! We don't offer official childcare, but there's a playground on site in a fenced-in area.
Where can we stay overnight?
A hotel right next to the venue isn't essential, since it's well connected by public transport. If you'd also like to sightsee in Vienna around our wedding, we'd generally recommend not necessarily picking a hotel right next to the venue, but staying somewhere more central in the city instead. „Am Roan" is especially easy to reach from districts 19, 18, 17, 9 and 20 — details below. We'll send a concrete hotel recommendation by newsletter at the latest in 2027 — feel free to sign up for that.
For orientation: how easy „Am Roan" is to reach from each Vienna district
We actually ran the numbers: travel time by public transport from the geographic midpoint of each of Vienna's 23 districts to „Am Roan", based on real Wiener Linien timetables, for a Tuesday afternoon with arrival between 3 and 5 pm.
The main thing upfront: there are only two sensible ways in. Bus 35A to Salmannsdorf runs every 7–8 minutes from Spittelau or Nußdorfer Straße (U4/U6), followed by about a 20-minute uphill walk (roughly 1.2 km, 100 m of elevation) — the standard route for pretty much all of Vienna. Bus 43A takes you straight to Dreimarkstein, just a 3-minute walk from the venue, but it only runs hourly and only on the summer timetable — for a date outside that season, check it in advance.
| District | from midpoint | Transfers | from center | typical connection |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 17 · Hernals | 19 min | 0 | 45 min | 43A direct to Dreimarkstein |
| 14 · Penzing | 34 min | 2 | 55 min | 52A → 43B → 43A |
| 18 · Währing | 46 min | 0 | 42 min | 35A to Salmannsdorf + walk |
| 9 · Alsergrund | 50 min | 1 | 50 min | 38 → 35A |
| 16 · Ottakring | 52 min | 2 | 52 min | 9 → 43 → 43A |
| 20 · Brigittenau | 53 min | 2 | 51 min | U6 → 35A |
| 15 · Rudolfsheim-Fünfhaus | 54 min | 2 | 56 min | U3 → S45 → 35A |
| 8 · Josefstadt | 55 min | 2 | 55 min | 13A → 43 → 43A |
| 19 · Döbling | 57 min | 2 | 41 min | S45 → 35A |
| 1 · Innere Stadt | 59 min | 3 | 54 min | U1 → U4 → 38 → 35A |
| 6 · Mariahilf | 59 min | 3 | 56 min | U6 → 35A (1 transfer, 64 min) |
| 7 · Neubau | 61 min | 2 | 59 min | 49 → U6 → 35A |
| 4 · Wieden | 62 min | 3 | 61 min | U4 → 35A (1 transfer, 70 min) |
| 21 · Floridsdorf | 64 min | 3 | 53 min | S2 → S45 → 35A |
| 3 · Landstraße | 68 min | 3 | 64 min | U4 → 38 → 35A |
| 10 · Favoriten | 72 min | 3 | 64 min | U1 → U4 → 38 → 35A |
| 2 · Leopoldstadt | 73 min | 3 | 55 min | S1/U2 → U6 → 35A |
| 5 · Margareten | 73 min | 3 | 69 min | U4 → 38 → 35A |
| 12 · Meidling | 73 min | 3 | 60 min | U6 → 43 → 43A |
| 13 · Hietzing | 73 min | 3 | 52 min | U4 → 43B |
| 11 · Simmering | 79 min | 4 | 70 min | U3 → U4 → 38 → 35A |
| 23 · Liesing | 79 min | 2 | 80 min | U6 → 35A |
| 22 · Donaustadt | 81 min | 3 | 75 min | U2 → U4 → 35A |
A word of caution about the top spots: the geographic midpoints of Hernals, Penzing, Ottakring, Hietzing, Döbling and Liesing mostly fall in the Vienna Woods or undeveloped land and don't say much about a real home address. The "from center" column (e.g. Elterleinplatz, Gatterburggasse, Kennedybrücke) is more meaningful for that.
Bottom line: „Am Roan" is best reached from districts 19, 18, 17, 9 and 20 (roughly 40–52 minutes, 1–2 transfers). Anything along the U4 and U6 works well, since the 35A connects from both. The furthest out are districts 22, 23, 11 and 10 (70–80 minutes, 3 transfers) — with just one transfer (U4 or U6 → 35A) you can get here from almost anywhere in Vienna, just 10–20 minutes slower.
For the way home in the evening: the 35A runs until about 10:45 pm from Salmannsdorf, after which the night bus N35 takes over every 30 minutes to Nußdorfer Straße (U6). The 43A stops running around 7 pm already.
To check it yourself, use AnachB.at or the Wiener Linien app — enter „Dreimarkstein" (platform 43A) or „Salmannsdorf" as the destination, since the house address itself isn't always recognized cleanly, as the house sits right on the border between districts 17 and 19 on the Höhenstraße.
